What happens when your trial ends
Tips ยท by Troy
Your free trial gives you 30 days of The Rock Crawler - every feature unlocked, no card on file. Here's exactly what happens when it ends, so there are no surprises.
The short version
When your trial ends, your account moves to The Lone Wolf (the free plan) automatically. No charge, nothing to cancel, no action needed. The paid features on your trips simply pause, and none of your data is thrown away.
Two things to know so nothing catches you off guard: the free plan limits how many active trips you keep at once, and it holds finished (archived) trips for a shorter window. If your trial left you over either limit, you get a 30-day heads-up before anything is removed. More on that below.
What keeps working
- Trip planning: routes, waypoints, basecamps, day-by-day itineraries
- Your buddies and share links - the crew keeps seeing the plan
- Your garage and gear lists
- Fuel cost estimates for your rig
- Every trip within the free plan's limit, exactly as you left it
What pauses (nothing is lost)
These are paid-plan features, so they switch off when the trial ends - but your data stays and comes right back if you upgrade:
- Meal plans - the Meal Plan tab hides. Your recipes, meals, and shopping list aren't deleted; they're waiting.
- Suggested refuel stops - auto-planned fuel stops paced to your rig's range.
- Trip import and export - GPX and trip-file import/export.
- Advanced lodging - room-by-room assignments on stays.
Nothing in this list deletes a thing. Upgrade later and every one of them picks up right where it left off, on the same trips.
The one thing that can be removed: trips over your limit
The free plan caps how many active trips you keep at once. If your trial left you with more, here's exactly how it works:
- The day you move to free, a 30-day countdown starts and we email you about it.
- During those 30 days, nothing is removed. Upgrade, or delete or hand off trips until you're back within the limit, and the countdown clears itself.
- We remind you again at 7 days and 1 day left, so it's never a surprise.
- If you're still over the limit when the countdown ends, we remove the oldest trips first, only enough to fit the free plan. Everything within your limit stays untouched.
The same 30-day grace applies to archived trips that fall outside the free plan's shorter archive window. Want to keep one for good? Export it, or upgrade, before the clock runs out.
The current plan-by-plan limits are always on the pricing page.
If you want to keep it all
Add a card any time from the billing page - during the trial you won't be charged until the trial actually ends, and after the trial you can upgrade whenever you like. Everything that paused picks up right where it left off, and any countdown stops the moment you're back within your plan.
